Appointments - alert and appointment approval process

When an appointment is booked in Eden, we would like to have a notification to approve the appointment. For example, a police id check or a baby which comes directly from paeds to the viewing room. Is there a way to alert staff that an appointment has been added so it is acknowledged and accepted?
